Brooke Waggoner: On Music, Living in Nashville, and the Future
Nashville-based singer/songwriter Brooke Waggoner recently took time out of her busy schedule to talk with Listen!Nashville about her music, an upcoming CD release, and her future plans.
Waggoner just finished an EP entitled Fresh Pair of Eyes, and she is currently gearing up for a CD release show at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville on July 6th. The EP contains six fully produced gems that highlight Waggoner's musicianship and nostalgic longings. Indeed, after completing her degree in Music Composition and Orchestration at Louisiana State University
under the guidance of prolific composer Dinos Constantinides (whom she references in the song "So So"), Waggoner relocated to Nashville to begin her career as a songwriter and musician. Now, only ten months later, Waggoner has achieved what countless others spend years in Nashville hoping to achieve. She has a solid fan-base, and her CD release on July 6th promises to be a sold-out show.
Waggoner's demeanor when discussing her music and recent success is refreshingly humble and surprisingly realistic, as she holds no naive illusions about the music business. Yet Waggoner is also optimistic and unjaded. Perhaps she wears the badge of musician so comfortably because, unlike many musicians who move to Nashville, Waggoner came to terms with her identity as a composer many years ago. Only recently, however, has she grown more comfortable with herself as a performer, and Waggoner's lingering shyness onstage is (ironically) one of many endearing qualities in her live shows.
