June 22th, 2007 @ The Belcourt Theater—"The Show," Jeremy Lister & Friends

Jeremy Lister's "The Show" Sells Out the Belcourt, and for Good Reason

Jeremy Lister and friends sold out the Belcourt Theater last Friday night (June 22) for the second installment of what we all hope will become an annual event. The three-hour show was a blend of circus spectacle with fantastic musical performances by a handful of talented Nashville artists. All of the musicians were dressed appropriately in circus attire, and Jeremy Lister was decked out as the ring leader in his scorching red "circus master" get-up.

"The Show" was hosted by the very funny Steve Lee who, having just released a critically acclaimed children's CD entitled What Did You Do Today, Stephen Scott Lee?, sang songs from his record between sets, and kept the audience laughing with clean humor (see photo). The night's musical entertainment began with a Sinatra-sounding Jace Seavers. Seavers accompanied himself on the upright bass while Adam Abrahoff (Funkwrench) sat in on drums, and Lance Hoffman rounded out the trio on sax. The room was nearly full by the time Leigh Nash (Sixpence None the Richer) took the stage to sing three gems, including her current single "Ocean Sized Love," while a lovely contortionist sat beside Nash onstage wrapping her body in knots.

However, it wasn't until Kyle Andrews powered up his Mac, put on a cowboy hat, and opened his set with "Get Mad" that everyone loosened their ties (see photo). Andrews appeared right at home as magician Scott Cantrell juggled bowling pins throughout his set. Of course, Andrews is no stranger to stage props. During his most recent show at The End in Nashville, his bass player wore a Frankenberry costume throughout the entire set. Following Andrews was another Nashville artist on the verge of super-stardom, K.S. Rhoads. Rhoads kept the crowd rockin' with his unique version of dirty blues layered with impromptu raps (see photo). Look for more shows and a new CD from K.S. Rhoads.
