The Lonely Hearts, Born in the Dark, 2008 (Self-released, Indie) (4 of 5 stars)

The Lonely Hearts' debut EP Born in the Dark is a stellar snapshot of the superb rock 'n' roll this Nashville-based quintet has been delivering in their live shows during the past year. The Lonely Hearts deliver Pop/Americana reminiscent of The Jayhawks and Tom Petty. The harmonies are tight, the melodies infectious, and the guitar-playin' is Nashville A-list with Dave Coleman on lead guitar.

Born in the Dark is a superb record, easily capturing the energy of their live shows. To be sure, over the past year, these guys have grown a strong Nashville following due in large part to their energetic, polished live shows. This is a professional outfit with a bright future.

This record is highly recommended for fans of The Jayhawks, Tom Petty, old-school Beatles, and well-crafted rock songs. — Vincent Wynne, August 26, 2008
